Internet Explorer compatibility for <style> tag

Is there any reason why my legend and tooltip styles would render well in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari but not in Internet Explorer? All the CSS is placed within tags with the .wax-tooltip {} or .wax-legend selector, which works well in all but IE. Is there any way to rewrite the code so that it will render even in IE (worthless browser that it is)? Thanks for the help.

    Hi James,

Internet Explorer has famously incomplete & flawed CSS support - you can start at compatibility tables and some articles on notable exclusions.

Thanks for that, Tom. No thanks to you, Microsoft.
