Permissions?

I cannot bring a zipped shapefile which is located on my local machine (running Ubuntu). I keep getting told I don't have permissions. I have successfully imported data from online sources, but I have local files I want to use.

    Hi there,
    Try making the data file in question world readable. TileMill should be able to load it.

    I changed the permission levels to the file and that did not work, so I kept going up and changed the folder permissions until it took. Thanks!

    Great! Yep, zip files can carry along their own file permissions which are not ideal for other applications.
