Making map like about-devseed

Hi. I have been playing with TileMill, TileStream and
Development Seed Web Site, and I notice that de front page of the
development seed site is a tile set (from http://tiles.mapbox.com/devseed/map/about-devseed).
So, my question is, How can I do such a beatifull map and if I can
make my own (different of yours of course), put it on my tilestream
server and use it in my web site.

Sure, the illustrations were done in inkscape and imported into TileMill as SVGs. You will be able to host the final map on TileStream.

Ok, but specifically, my point is: Can I use similar design in my own website as a front page?
will I not violate polytics or copiright.. or wharever its named (sorry, I have an uggly english).
So, guys, I love your work and I would like to start websites based on maps.

Ah! You can't copy the map from our site, but if you want to use the same concept or make a map that is inspired by our map, feel free!

Yes, thats the idea, use the same concept. I will use some rasters from Natural Earth and some shapes of my own.
