Hi, I would like to assign color information to elevetions of a srtm-geo-tiff as explained here:

http://support.mapbox.com/kb/tilemill/terrain-visualization-with-di...
under "Generating color-relief"

I saved that txt-File but don't have an idea how to link to that text-file within my style.mss in Tilemill.

Does anyone here know how I can do this?

Assigning colors to rasters must currently be done as a pre-processing step (before you import the geotiff to TileMill). The txt file is used in conjunction with the gdaldem command which will add the colors to your SRTM file. As explained in the article:

To apply this color ramp to the DEM, use the gdaldem color-relief command:

    gdaldem color-relief input-dem.tif ramp.txt output-color-relief.tif
