Removing scrollbars in tooltips?

I'm creating a map with a long list of data I want to display in the tooltip. However, when the tooltip renders, it is displaying scrollbars on the right-hand side to display the data that are difficult to use as scrolling in the tooltip also scrolls the map underneath.

Is there a way to control the size of the tooltip so that it doesn't display these scrollbars? I've tried adding css height / width constraints but they don't seem to be recognized.

    This isn't controllable in TileMill. Are you displaying the map anywhere? You can customize controls.css in Wax to change the size, shape, and position of tooltips.
